Create PDF from Blank Page

Creating a blank page is often useful. Back with Acrobat 6 & 7 and sometimes 8, I used to do it all
the time just to attach multiple documents and email a single PDF file. With Acrobat 9’s Portfolio, in
particular, as you can include multiple documents without being all of them being PDFs, I don’t create
blank pages for that purpose. In those days, and currently, when I need a blank page, I would use Word
or InDesign (depending on what was open and easiest) to create a new page and print it to PDF. Blank
pages are still useful in creating books, for example. Sometimes, otherwise, you just need a blank page.

Acrobat 9 has it built in, under the File menu > Create PDF > From Blank Page. But it’s more than just
a blank page, text can be added and some formatting is available. A Blank Page has a flashing cursor
within rather wide margins (1.5” on the right and left, 1” on top and bottom). A new Blank Page also
opens the New Document formatting panel. You can save the Blank, “Untitled” document at any point
and continue to add more text. In fact, continue typing or paste text into the Blank Page and new pages
will be added. This function is illustrated with the movie on the attached PDF tutorial. The adding and editing text
will continue until the document is closed. Upon reopening the document, no more text can be added.
At this point, the only text changes that can be done are with the Touchup Text Tool.
